Electrical Linework Instructor
Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Wadena campus, is accepting applications for Full-time Electrical Linework Instructor to begin spring semester 2025. This position will become unlimited upon completion of required six semesters of probationary status.
Description:
The Electrical Linework program provides trained personnel for the power industry. Coursework provides both theory and practical hands-on experience in all phases of power line construction and maintenance. Coursework includes electrical math, national electrical safety codes, construction of overhead and underground distribution systems, conductor applications, over voltage and over current protection, guying and pole grounding. The successful graduate is eligible for employment in rural electric and municipal utilities or with private contractors.
Responsibilities:
Activities related to comprehensive community college teaching and learning, including but not limited to:
- Instructional planning and delivery;
- Teaching and facilitating student learning;
- Curriculum planning and development;
- Academic advising for Electrical Linework students;
- Assessment of student performance at course and departmental level, and contribute to student assessment at the college general education level;
- Classroom management;
- Maintenance of professional skills and credentials;
- Participation in department meetings, coordination activities, and college-wide committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education Requirement:
- Diploma in an electrical linework program.
Occupational Experience Requirement:
- Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in electrical linework.
Recency Requirement:
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAS Degree or higher;
- Journeyman Lineman status;
- Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college;
- Experience with learning communities or team teaching;
- Experience in curriculum development and academic partnerships;
- Experienced in integrating cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives in course instruction;
- Experience teaching a diverse student population.
