Joint Action Agencies
Joint Action Agencies (JAAs) are agencies established by municipal power providers to cooperatively provide member communities with affordable wholesale power. At one time, municipal utilities generated much of their power in hometown power plants. As the economics of electricity changed, JAAs were the answer to help municipals stay competitive and work together to provide reliable, affordable power.
JAAs own and contract power supply sources to meet their members’ power needs. In Minnesota, there are six JAAs whose membership is made up of hometown utilities. Click the links below to learn more about the individual JAAs.
