Utility workforce scholarship program
MMUA's Utility Workforce Scholarship supports individuals interested in pursuing careers in the utility sector. Up to five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to students who enroll in a utility-related career program at an eligible institution. The MMUA Utility Workforce Scholarship is open to students seeking credentials as a powerline/lineworker, gas operator, water and wastewater operator, phone broadband, GIS specialist and other utility-specific programs.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
- Live in the state of Minnesota
- Complete the application
- Answer two open-ended questions in 500 words or less:
- Why are you interested in becoming a utility worker in your chosen field?
- What can you tell us about your knowledge of the utility sector, specifically municipal utilities?
- Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from a mentor, employer, or teacher
MMUA members are encouraged to share this scholarship information with their communities. The application deadline is May 15, 2025.
