This exciting new position will have TWO (2) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and must have experience in both SUSTAINABILITY and COMMUNICATIONS to be considered:

The Sustainability/Communications Coordinator, under the general supervision of the City Administrator, commences a wide variety of sustainability and communications duties to meet the goals of the City as well as be a resource for all departments. This position will be responsible for educating, promoting, implementing, coordinating and communicating public activities and assisting in developing sustainability/resiliency initiatives for the city.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:: BS/BA degree in Environmental Science and/or Communications or related field; Knowledge of Sustainability/resiliency/ecology; Experience with managing and updating social media posts (Facebook, Website, X); Strong knowledge of sustainability concepts, practices and regulations; Valid Driver’s License.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Environmental Science or Mass Communications or related field; City/Government experience; One year or more experience in website management; More than one year experience in ecology or related field; More than one year experience in preparing environmental education materials; Demonstrated experience with research and grant writing; Demonstrated experience with presentations; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials and the public/residents; Demonstrated proficiency in use of computer software programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point; Demonstrated ability to speak conversational Spanish and/or Somali.
